Submission Guide lines

Call for scientific contributions

We invite veterinarians, researchers and students to submit original work covering all aspects of the order Ruminantia — including cattle, sheep, goats, camelids and game (wild ruminants such as deer, antelopes and related species) — for presentation at the 1st African Buiatrics Congress in Windhoek, 25–27 November 2027.

                            All accepted contributions will be peer-reviewed and, after the congress,
                            published in the online proceedings with a DOI reference.
                        

                            Authors may submit more than one research paper or contribution.
                            Each submission is reviewed independently.

Presentation formats

Choose the format that best fits your contribution:

Poster

Poster presentation

Displayed during dedicated poster sessions

Suitable for completed studies, case series, field observations and work in progress on any ruminant species. Authors are expected to be present during the scheduled poster viewing times.

Optional short oral pitch if scheduled by the organisers

Oral

Oral communication

15 minutes total (12 min presentation + 3 min discussion)

For original research, clinical studies and significant case reports. Presentation slots are limited and allocated after peer review.

Strict timing: 15 minutes including discussion
Standard audiovisual support provided
Presenting author must be a registered participant

Round table

Round table discussion

90 minutes

Interactive sessions on a focused topic, typically chaired with 3–5 invited speakers or proposers. Ideal for guidelines, regional challenges, teaching and policy debates.

Audience discussion is a core part of the format

Submission instructions

Prepare an abstract in English (typically 250–350 words) covering background, objectives, methods, results and conclusions. For round tables, provide a session outline and learning objectives instead of a classic results section.
Select the preferred format (poster, oral communication or round table). The scientific committee may reassign format based on content and programme balance.
Submit online via the congress portal (opens 6 September 2026). Include author names, affiliations and the presenting author’s contact details. You may submit more than one paper; each is handled as a separate contribution.
Confirm registration of the presenting author once the contribution is accepted. Acceptance does not replace congress registration.

Abstract content guidelines

Original work preferred; clearly state if previously presented or published in part
No commercial product promotion in the abstract title or body
Use SI units and standard veterinary nomenclature where applicable
Disclose funding sources and conflicts of interest at submission

                            Detailed template files (abstract form, poster size, slide guidelines) will be provided
                            when the submission system opens. Check this page and the registration portal for updates.
                        

Peer review & publication

Every submission undergoes peer review by the scientific committee (and external reviewers where appropriate). Decisions may be: accept as submitted, accept with format change, request revision, or decline.

                            After the congress, accepted and presented contributions will be published in the
                            online congress proceedings. Each proceedings volume (or individual contribution,
                            according to the final publication model) will receive a DOI for permanent citation
                            and discoverability.
                        

Peer review is mandatory for all formats (poster, oral, round table)
Only contributions that are presented at the congress are included in the proceedings
Authors retain responsibility for scientific accuracy and ethical approvals
The DOI and proceedings link will be communicated to corresponding authors after publication
